Regine Macapagal
Saxophone and piano teacher
Hi, I'm Regine! My musical journey began on the piano, back when I couldn’t even reach the pedals! I’ve been playing the piano for 15 years. These 15 years are divided between taking piano & music theory lessons with the Ontario Conservatory of Music & the Royal Conservatory of Music, playing in bands & choirs, and now teaching at various music schools! The piano opened my eyes to the importance of music in our lives, and has allowed me to further explore the world of music beyond reading notes on a paper. During my time in high school, I joined the Concert and Jazz Bands, which is where I found my love for the saxophone! From there, I became the lead saxophonist, landed a position as a Musical Director for a stage play, directed several junior bands, and even formed my own “gigging” band called ‘Note-Tendo’. I am currently continuing my musical journey at the University of Toronto, where I continue to perform in both large and small ensembles, as well as exploring jazz and video-game music with our jazz ensemble.
In my free time, I like to compose & arrange music, go biking, and play Mario Kart! Playing the piano and the saxophone has brought me so much joy, curiosity, and opportunities, that I knew I just had to share this love with others. I want to help students see music as a gift, as a solace, and as a way to transmit messages that words can’t quite deliver.
